The high point of the evening was when Suriya hummed a few lines of an old Tamil number and even repeated the famous dialogue from Vaaranam Aayiram, "Hi Malini." Except that Suriya dedicated the words to his beloved wife Jyotika and started with "Hi Jo." The audience went completely ecstatic by this impromptu performance. The audience got to see the man behind the actor. The whole evening was a very interesting one as Suriya shared anecdotes about not only Vaaranam Aayiram and his movies, but also about his personal life. The winner of the contest got a guitar autographed by the actor. His interaction with each of the participants was absolutely wonderful, as he asked them questions and patiently and openly answered theirs. The participants sang songs only from Vaaranam Aayiram and Suriya was mouthing each and every word of the songs. Dressed in blue jeans and a printed blue kurta, Suriya enjoyed every single moment of the evening. Organised at GRT Convention Centre, the evening was one of the most memorable musical evenings. Out of these were selected 13 lucky ones who got the opportunity to sing in front of Suriya today. Over 300 singers both amateur and trained, participated in 'Suriyakaga Oru Song' contest. Radio Mirchi had organised a singing competition based only on the Vaaranam Aayiram songs.
